Tracing the Arab World, is a series of family photos from the MENA/SWANA and greater Arabic speaking world, Arabic minority nations and non-Arabic speaking natives of the region.  It’s an Afro-Asiatic point-of-view with influence from South Asia as well as Europe, since ancient times. This series was installed for Dana El Masri’s Scent & Society: Middle East & North Africa program at The Institute for Art + Olfaction (2018)

In addition to the installation, digital reproductions of these paintings with embedded audio tracks relating to the owners’ memories were shared on social media and can be seen on my Instagram account.

All paintings are acrylic on tracing paper (11x14 inches).
